Before you fax

  • The IRS recommends applying online if you can, and an online application gives you the EIN immediately. The online application needs a U.S. or U.S. territory address.
  • The IRS sends the EIN back by fax, so write a fax number where you can receive faxes on the form. PageFax can send your form but can't receive the reply.
  • These fax numbers are only for EIN applications. Other forms go to other numbers.
  • The IRS issues one EIN per responsible party per day, however you apply.

How to send it without a fax machine

  4. Send, and keep the delivery receipt as proof of when you faxed it.
