How to send a fax
A fax is a document sent over a phone line to a fax machine, which prints it. You can send one from a fax machine, or online: upload the pages, and a fax service dials the recipient's machine for you.
- Get the recipient's fax number, area code first, and confirm it with them if you can.
- Get your document into a PDF or a photo of each page. Paper pages can be photographed with your phone.
- Enter the fax number, add the pages, and add a cover page if the recipient expects one.
- Check the page count and the price, then send.
- Keep the delivery result: it shows the number, the time and how many pages arrived.
Sending from a fax machine
Put the pages in the feeder face down or face up as the machine shows, dial 1 and the area code for a long-distance number, and press Start or Send. The machine prints a confirmation report when the fax goes through; keep it as proof.
Several pages, or pages printed on both sides
Add all pages to the same fax so they arrive together, in order. A fax machine only sends one side of each sheet, so for two-sided documents add each side as its own page.
If the fax doesn't go through
A busy line or a machine that doesn't answer is common. PageFax tries again automatically, up to three times, and you pay only for the pages that arrive.
