Before you fax

  • Older OPM pages and other websites list fax numbers for retirement. OPM's own contact page now says there is no main fax number, so don't rely on them.

  • OPM says it usually responds to mail within 1 to 3 weeks.
  • Many changes, such as your mailing address or direct deposit, can be made in OPM Retirement Services Online.

  1. Check the form or ask a specialist whether you may fax it, and get the number.
  2. Put your name, claim number and signature on the document.
  3. Scan or photograph the pages, enter the number and add them.
  4. Send, and keep the delivery receipt.
