How to fax from a Mac

Most Macs today have no way to dial a fax line themselves. What a Mac can do is turn any document into a PDF, and a fax service can dial the recipient's machine for you. You can do that here in Safari, Chrome or any browser.

  1. Open the document and choose File, then Print. In the print window, open the PDF menu and choose Save as PDF.
  2. Enter the recipient's fax number here.
  3. Click Add PDF or photos and pick the PDF you saved.
  4. Check the page count and the price, send, and keep the delivery result.

Paper pages

Photograph them with your iPhone and send from the phone instead, or scan them with a scanner or a printer that scans to your Mac, then add the PDF here.

Pages or Word documents

Both can be saved as PDF from File, then Print, then Save as PDF. Pages can also export to PDF from File, then Export To.

Proof that it arrived

When the fax finishes you get the result with the number, the time and how many pages were delivered. Save or print it as your receipt.
