# How to fax a PDF

A PDF is the easiest thing to fax: it already has pages in the right order. Add it here, enter the fax number and send it. A fax service dials the recipient's fax machine for you, so you don't need one yourself.

1. Enter the recipient's fax number, area code first.
2. Click or tap Add PDF or photos and pick the PDF. On a phone it may be in your Files, Downloads or email.
3. Check the pages: remove any the recipient doesn't need, or add more files after it.
4. Check the price, send, and keep the delivery result.

## Password-protected PDFs

A fax machine can't open a password, so a protected PDF can't be faxed as it is. Save a copy without the password (most PDF readers can print or export one) and add that.

## Long PDFs

Up to 30 pages can go in one fax here. Faxes are charged per page, so leave out blank pages and instructions the recipient doesn't need.

## Color and small print

Fax is black and white at a modest resolution. Light colors and very small text may come out faint, so use a clean, dark original where you can.
